Legal Rights for Ink Supplies
You have a legal right to use the ink supplies of your choice Have you heard any of these statements before? Tell your OEM Sales Rep that it can be illegal to try and enforce the above policies. To require or force the owner of equipment to use only the equipment manufacturer's brand of ink or make-up products is illegal. To make this requirement can be a violation of the Sherman and Clayton Antitrust Acts. Don't be intimidated by sales and service reps who are simply protecting their own interests. An equipment manufacturer cannot force an equipment owner or lessee, like you, to exclusively purchase inks and consumable supplies or any other products, from them. In order to make this kind of requirement legal they must conclusively prove that other brands of ink are incompatible with their equipment. Put it in writing is the phrase you should use if an OEM Equipment Sales or Service Technician blames Uniform products for any problems relating to equipment malfunctions or performance. When you ask the OEM employee to document in writing that our product was to blame, they invariably back away from their disparaging claims. Show this statement to anyone who insists they can void a warranty or charge you for a service call because they found that you were not using the equipment manufacturer's brand of product. Protect your legal right to use the vendor of your choice.
