The perfect affordable & versatile solution for new start-ups in the Sign Making Industry!

The Mutoh ValueJet 1204 is designed specifically with starting-out full-colour sign makers in mind. It is a compact eco-solvent printer that will also appeal to established businesses with water-based inkjet printers looking for an affordable printer to produce outdoor durable prints, even on uncoated substrates. Excellent quality output means this versatile performer makes a perfect addition for the smaller jobs in an existing wide-format print shop.

Suited to indoor and outdoor applications, the Mutoh ValueJet 1204 produces full-colour posters, banners, backlit panels, POS displays, external notices for buildings, production plants and construction sites as well as adhesive signs and stickers.

Innovative and easy-to-use, the Mutoh ValueJet 1204 uses Eco-Solvent inks, making it suitable for operation in any working environment, plus the i² Intelligent Interweave printing technology produces impeccable prints every time on media up to 1300 mm (51”). This CMYK printer can handle 2” and 3” rolls and cut sheet media and incorporates three individually controlled heating elements for media acclimatisation, ink fixation and drying of the prints.

3 Years outdoor
Prints made with Eco-Solvent Ultra inks are UV and water resistant for up to three years outdoors, without lamination (1).
(1) : Lamination is recommended for fleet, floor graphics and other applications where prints are exposed to intensive mechanical stress or abrasion.

12 pre-defined print modes
Four print resolutions offered—540 x 720 dpi, 720 x 720 dpi, 1440 x 720 dpi & 1440 x 1440 dpi—and, with starting-out full-colour sign makers in mind, 12 different print modes have been pre-defined. These are in three groups: Quality Mode(1), Graphics Mode(2) and Banner Mode(3). Pre-defined print modes means Uniform Lancer G2 1300 users do not need to choose printing passes, resolutions or other manual settings. Simply activate a predefined mode via the RIP software or directly on the printer’s operation panel.
(1) Typical photographic quality mode (pictures)
(2) Typical “vinyl” production mode (signs)
(3) Typical high speed banner outdoor mode.

Speed performance
The Mutoh ValueJet 1204 provides typical production speeds on banner media up to 14 m²/h and up to 7 m²/h on self-adhesive uncoated PVC.

Wide choice of media
The Mutoh ValueJet 1204 prints onto eco-coated, coated and even uncoated media thanks to the combination of the piezo print head, the characteristics of Eco-Solvent Ultra inks and the three built-in digitally controllable heating elements. These heating elements control and optimize media acclimatisation, ink fixation and drying of the prints.

Fast return on Investment
Rapid return on investment is available to beginners as well as skilled operators. The combination of affordable pricing, ease of use with consistent high quality output, flexibility for switching quickly between print jobs and low ink consumption (average 8ml/m² on uncoated PVC) means the Mutoh ValueJet 1204 will swiftly turn investment into profit.

New generation “wide model” 1440dpi piezo print head
The Mutoh ValueJet 1204 uses the industry’s smallest available droplet size of 3.5 pl, thanks to a new generation piezo drop-on-demand variable drop “wide model” print head. This 1440-nozzle head incorporates four colour sections, each divided in two nozzle rows with 360 nozzles per colour. Because all the colour sections are united in one head, there is no need for time consuming head-to-head calibration procedures. The printer head comes complete with a 12-month warranty.

Eco-Solvent Ultra Ink
Eco-Solvent Ultra inks are based on non-aggressive solvents. As they do not spread any harmful VOCs in the working environment, there is no need for forced ventilation. Eco-Solvent Ultra inks are third generation of eco-inks and feature improved ink fixation, better drying, higher print speeds, and improved scratch resistance. The Mutoh ValueJet 1204 printer is ideally suited to deliver top quality images when printing directly onto a wide range of low-cost standard available uncoated PVC and scrim banner media. Eco-Solvent Ultra inks come in easy-to-use 220 ml ink cassettes.

i² - a revolution in print technology

> Intelligent Interweaving, i² technology, provides impeccable digital printing quality for both Photo and Sign printing.

> Quick and simple to set up, printing with i² saves time and trouble while producing outstanding results. Ink is laid down in carefully optimised wave forms, not the straight lines used by all other wide-format inkjet printers. The result is a drastic reduction or even total elimination of the typical difficulties inherent in conventional digital inkjet printing. i² technology means the end of defects such as horizontal banding, step mismatch banding, ink mottle and bleed and the visible effects of missing or misfiring nozzles.

i² technology will offer you no less than 5 key benefits:

1) i² immediately offers you an overall better printing quality.

2) i² boosts user-friendly operation as it will vastly increase the workflow's operation tolerances so that you - the operator - hardly need to spend extra time to fine-tune your printer for obtaining top output quality.

3) With i² you will gain time and print any image bi-directionally, even the most critical sign jobs, which you would normally be tempted to print uni-directionally to avoid any kind of banding.

4) When printing @ 720 dpi 4-pass using i²'s SIGN weave mode, you will benefit from an improved ink density yield. Compared with painting a wall, 'traditional' printing can best be compared to covering the wall with a single thick layer of paint, whereas 'i²' is best compared with professional painting using multiple thin layers of paint or spray painting.

5) Dedicated i² profiles for 720 dpi 4-pass in combination with i²'s SIGN weave mode will allow boosting your colour gamut versus traditional printing. In combination with the improved ink density yield, you will also notice up to 10 % less ink consumption.

Ultima Cutter

Offering the traditional quality of Ultima drag-knife cutting plotters, the Ultima series vinyl cutting plotters (850 mm and 1400 mm) have been developed for extreme user-friendliness. Combining the Ultima with the Mutoh ValueJet is the perfect solution for Print & Cut applications.

As a stand-alone cutting plotter, the Ultima can cut and plot designs onto paper. As a contour cutter, the Ultima is an ideal partner for contour cutting of preprinted signs.

Unlike other offered hybrid print & cut systems, we have developed a totally different “print & cut philosophy”.

The Ultima cutting plotters incorporate Epos® (electronic positioning) technology creating a seamlessly contour-cut. With this approach, we offer the idea “buy a printer and a cutting plotter for a lower price than a combined print and cut machine” or “buy an Ultima cutter to combine with your existing printer and have access to contour cutting of pre-printed signs”.

Why pay more for an integrated printer if you already have one!

Moreover, a unique feature for the sign market is Ultima's automatic bar code registration system. Every job gets a unique bar code, reducing operator errors to practically zero.

PC & Mac compatible, The Ultima cutter also comes as standard with a full starter software pack for signmakers to see the full contour-cut versatility. Contact your us on 01932 568555 for a full demostration!

Meet our alternative dual-device print & cut solution!! It's a concept extremely suitable for automated signs and sticker production. Window displays, labels, stickers, vehicle graphics, point of purchase, packaging, safety signs, billboards, … We make contour cutting easy !

We offer you a unique concept; a balanced method of working for full-colour sticker and signs production consisting of specially developed software, a Ultima (contour) cutter, a printer and last but not least a unique workflow controller, namely the CutServer.

Why choose a dual-device solution?

A printer and a cutter have a different economic life-cycle. Whereas the average economic life-cycle of a printer is 3 to 5 years, a cutter can be used up to 10 years. Combining both units in one integrated machine will drastically reduce the functionality of the cutter.

Moreover, when taking a closer look at the user-friendliness of a single-device solution, we noticed some practical inconveniences.

Firstly, after printing your stickers on self-adhesive media, you will often let them dry out and stabilize to avoid shrink behaviour. Maybe you will even laminate them. Only a couple of hours later, you can cut the stickers, meaning that in the meantime your single device solution can't be used for any other job. This also implies that constant oversight is necessary.

Secondly, the cutting part is an operation that has very little in common with the printing operation:

- You do not want the machine's transport wheels to run all over the printed stickers.
- The time to cut the stickers is usually less than needed to print them.

Therefore, we built a workflow without compromises and where one operation does not fractionize nor slow down the other (related) operation.

For optimum user-friendliness, we defined a workflow that will practically reduce operator errors to zero.

Contour cut workflow : step-by-step

Workflow

Here is how it works:

  • Sticker design comes in from a foreign (CorelDRAW®, Illustrator®, …) design package or is created in our workflow software.
  • The printing and cutting data are created simultaneously and every single job gets its own, unique BAR CODE.
  • After printing, the operator can choose to build-in a drying time, to laminate or to immediately cut the stickers.
  • All the contour-cut data of the stickers are collected in a hot folder that is monitored by the cut server. The cut server continuously is in "listening mode" until the Ultima cutting plotter collects the job.
  • The printed stickers (roll or sheet) (front or backside first) are loaded into the Ultima and the signal is given to start the job.
    • The Ultima will read the BAR CODE and recall the contour-cut data from the CUT SERVER which will pick the corresponding job from the hot folder and send it to the Ultima cutting plotter.
    • The Ultima uses the preprinted reference box to exactly position, scale and skew the vector data and accurately contour-cuts the stickers.

Direct-to-Layout Workflow

Job-Based Workflow

Master Queues Manager

Media Saving Layouts with
Automatic Rotation

You don't need to be an expert to print like one. With Troop SoftRIP 6.0 even beginners can jump straight in with our simple to use interface.

HIGH DEFINITION PRINTING WITH 16-BIT RENDERING

With SoftRIP's PSS halftoning and 16-bit rendering, you get the highest quality color possible with an inkjet device. If you thought your output quality was good enough before you are in for a big surprise!

Demanding color users like digital photographers have been buzzing about the benefits of 16-bit workflows for some time. Wasatch SoftRIP will be the first PostScript-compatible product to bring this premium color and precision quality to the inkjet printing process.

Why 16-bits is better

PSS and 16-bit color give you the one-two punch you need for premium output. Color subtleties and gradients in raster images are maintained with enormous detail. Vector gradients are perfectly smooth at any output size. With SoftRIP, tonal banding becomes a thing of the past.

How it Works

Other inkjet RIPs are based on 8-bit rendering. This means that color data and quality are lost in the printing process. SoftRIP's 16-bit color pipeline maintains your color data to produce output that is truly faithful to the original source image. The difference is particularly dynamic when printing with lower quality consumables.

SoftRIP will process files that are inherently 16-bits deep through color management and PSS halftoning with high fidelity color depth. Files that arrive to the RIP only 8-bits deep will also show substantial benefit. They are promoted to 16-bits of color depth prior to color management and are maintained at this high definition through halftoning.

Positive News for Profilers

Imaging Configurations (color profiles) made with earlier versions of Wasatch SoftRIP can be used with SoftRIP 6.1. And, in many cases, older profiles will provide improved image quality just by being used with the 16-bit color pipeline.

Digital Tool Kit

Troop's new Digital Tool Kit brings together the key settings you need to quickly ready images for efficient printing. Size, crop, check color gamut, tile and more without ever leaving the home screen. With navigation that easy, who needs a map?

A New Way to Work

Troop SoftRIP 6.0 creates new workflow paths to speed your production. Use a standard workflow, or combine them to create a hybrid workflow optimized just for you.

The Direct-to-Layout Workflow uses the full width of your media as a digital canvas. Drop images into the layout window and prepare them to print as a part of your overall print run. With Direct-to-Layout you can even use images already ripped as part of another layout without re-ripping.

Troop SoftRIP's Job-Based Workflow is now easier than ever. When you drag and drop a file from the file browser into your Job Window, all of the tools you need to process that image are right at your fingertips in the new Digital Tool Kit. Once your image is ready to print, one mouse click processes it through to your printer or saves it to layout with other images.

Server-Based Workflows use the RIP exclusively as a control center to manage jobs submitted from remote workstations through production. In 6.0, Troop SoftRIP's production command center moves to the main screen for easier access. With real-time job status and the ability to see RIP and Print queues for all units simultaneously, the Server-Based Workflow has never been easier.

Smart Nesting Made Smarter

Troop SoftRIP's Smart Nesting tools create efficient layouts automatically, whether you prepare your images directly in the layout window or hold single jobs to arrange later. Smart Nesting uses advanced mathematics to create layout designs that save media costs and guillotine trimming time. In version 6.0, Smart Nesting saves even more media by rotating un-RIP'd files any time that rotation will make the overall layout more efficient.

Queue Up Efficiency

Version 6.0 moves the Master Queues Manager to the SoftRIP main screen. To save you RIP time again and again, SoftRIP creates Queue entries for every image in your layout as well as the layout itself. Once your image is RIP'd you can drop it into any layout to reprint without re-RIPing. Any layout scenario you can imagine is easier with Troop SoftRIP 6.0.
